This interview is part of our initiative to know our users take on our themes, web development and other things in general.
Today, we are interviewing Jonathan Sacks. He is travel blogger and started his first website back in 1996. He uses our FrontPage theme because of the way it shows images on the homepage and the carousal.
If you wish to be interviewed by MyThemeShop, get in touch with us. Only requirement is that you must be using any of our free or premium products for more than 3 months.
Here’s the full interview.
A. Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Jonathan Sacks, and I am the writer of a travel website called Everybody Hates A Tourist. My site’s focus is travel news, deals, diaries, contests, and more.
B. When did you start your first blog or website and how?
I first started making websites way back in 1996, in the age of stone tablets (or perhaps it was AOL, I can’t remember). I started Everybody Hates A Tourist in 2012.
C. How did you hear about us?
I mentioned to a friend that I was looking for a new WordPress theme, and he recommended MyThemeShop.
D. Why did you choose MyThemeShop?
I was looking for a theme that would make my site look as professional as possible for a reasonable price. I also wanted a responsive design that would be friendly to integrations with other plugins as well as advertising. The only difficulty I had was trying to decide on which theme to buy, since there were so many great possibilities.
E. Which MyThemeShop theme/plugin are you using and why?
I am using Frontpage because it has a professional, magazine-like look. I love how well it uses images. Good photography is vital on a travel blog, and I love how my photos are showcased, particularly on the homepage and the carousel.
F. One thing that would make MyThemeShop better?
It would be great if I could customize/limit the “random” column on my theme’s homepage. The travel industry has a lot of time-sensitive news and deals, so I don’t want certain old posts to show up. Also, the support forums are great for figuring out advanced ways to tweak themes, but some easy CSS customizations could perhaps be included in the options rather than as custom CSS. These are minor issues, overall MyThemeShop is fantastic.
G. One tool or website you can’t live without?
Feedly helps me keep up to date on news & makes it easier for me to find great travel content for my site. Tweetdeck also makes Twitter a breeze.
H. How would you rate MyThemeShop on the scale of 10 for
- Support: 10
- Coding: 10
- Design: 10
- Usability: 9
I. Share a brief testimonial about your experience with our products:
MyThemeShop’s themes give any site a professional look for a great value. Installation is simple, and there are plenty of easy customizations. No expensive engineers required!
